About
The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) units at Soundarya College of Law strive to nurture socially responsible, ethically conscious, and service-oriented law graduates. Through active participation in community engagement and humanitarian activities, we instil a sense of civic duty and leadership among our students. Our NSS unit functions in tune with the guidelines and policies of Karnataka State Law University (KSLU), ensuring that all activities adhere to university directives and national NSS objectives. Likewise, our Youth Red Cross unit is established as per the Indian Red Cross Society, Karnataka State Branch norms, promoting health, humanitarian values, and disaster preparedness.
The National Service Scheme, popularly known as NSS comes under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India and is launched in Gandhiji’s Birth Centenary (100th) Year 1969 to primarily focus on the development of personality of students through community service We, the Soundarya College of Law(SCL) NSS unit, a unit of about 50 active volunteers, welcome anyone who is ready to venture out of his/her comfort zones and make a difference to the society.
The NSS motto ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’, abides by all of us, NSS members, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service. It prompts you to develop appreciation for the other person’s point of view and also show consideration to other living beings as you inculcate the undying lively spirit within yourself to provide welfare.
The NSS symbol has been emanated from the giant Rath wheel of the world famous Konark Sun Temple (The Black Pagoda) situated in Orissa, India. The wheel portrays the cycle of creation, preservation and release – indeed implying the continuous striving of NSS for social change. While the 8 bars represent 24 hours of a day, their red colour signifies the lively, active, young blood of the volunteer – full of high spirit. The Navy blue colour represents indicates that the NSS unit is a tiny but considerable part of the cosmos to work for the welfare of mankind.
