Ms. Pooja Abinaya G.B. is an emerging academic specializing in Intellectual Property Law, with a strong interdisciplinary foundation in business and law. She holds an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Laws from Tamil Nadu National Law University and completed her LL.B. with First Class with Distinction from KLE Society’s Law College. She also holds a B.B.A. from University of Madras, which informs her analytical approach to the relationship between law, markets, and innovation.
Her academic interests lie at the intersection of copyright law, traditional knowledge protection, indigenous community rights, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.She has conducted empirical legal research involving nationwide data collection and analysis, focusing on evolving issues in intellectual property governance and rights of persons with disabilities. Her ongoing research includes work on copyright protection in dance choreography, comparative perspectives on the right to be forgotten, and the global legal debates surrounding artificial intelligence as an inventor in cases such as the DABUS Case.
Prior to entering academia, she worked as Market Research Analyst at Tata Consultancy Services, where she developed strong analytical and data-driven research skills. She has also received legal training through internships with advocates practicing before the Madras High Court, gaining exposure to diverse areas of litigation and tribunal practice.
As an educator, Ms. Pooja is committed to fostering critical thinking, research-driven learning, and doctrinal clarity, encouraging students to engage with law in the context of evolving technological and societal developments.
